Teel Cairnsi/Flight to Cairns
Kuna nädalavahetusel on siin suur lennushow tulemas, siis tänane päev paistab olevat harjutamiseks, reaktiivlennukid lendavad juba mitu tundi kõrvulukustava mürina saatel ümber linna. :)
Despite of being a beautiful town, Darwin is quite expencive in some places and even the backpackers cost more than I am used to. We got our room in a bp where the introducing add said: newly renovated rooms. Well, in that case I am perfectly capable of doing renovations too - how? - by not doing anything XD. The room had a bunk bed, a chair and a fridge and just enough space to but our bags on. Actually it was pretty funny, ´cos it didn´t matter to us how good the place looked, we got our much needed rest. The staff was really great and the location just 5 minutes walk to the ocean - lovely! Although I have noticed that commercials in tourist related areas tends to be a lot better sometimes than the reality is. Or am I just imagining things differently when I read about them?
On the second evening in Darwin we set out to the airport again, to fly to Cairns. We were considering other ways to go, like by car too, but several days through an unkcown terrain in a new driving culture seemed a bit too much to handle yet.
Cairns was still Cairns, full of backpackers, some new buildings... we met an estonian boy on the street who hadn´t met other estonians for a long while, so that was a fun talk :).
We went to the movies (the prices have gone up so much that I almost started to gape at the counter XD). The air conditioner was so chilly - it felt like only 10 degrees or so, but as it is 30C outside in the shadow, it really messes with your perspective on temperature; so we were literally freezing there. But the movie was awesome! "Charlie and Boots" is the name and imdb.com gives you a better overview, but to give it shortly it was about a father and son travelling up the east coast to the most northern point of Australia. A real Aussie movie about real Aussies... had some cries and laughs and as the other watchers were mainly locals, it was fun to hear their reactions :D
Took the bus to Townsville in the evening where my friend Külli came to pick us up and gave us a place to rest in her lovely abode. So, now we have been resting here for 2 days, ´cos coming from D. made another 40 hour hole in our sleeping schedule. So now we need to find a job to earn some money to travel onward.

As there is a big flight show coming on the weekend, it seems that today is a day for practice, ´cos the jets have been making earsplitting rounds around the city for a while now. Might be going to check that out too, around 80 000 people are expected to see the demonstration! :)
