Tolmutorm ja autosõit/ Duststorm and driving

Eilne põhiuudis siinkandis oli suur punase tolmu torm mis Sydneyt ja idarannikut tabas ning Marsi olustiku lõi. Täna hommikuks on jäänused ka siia jõudnud, ning vaatamata päikesepaistele on silmapiir suht hägune ning aevastama ajab. Siin elades mõtlen vahest, et Eestis on ikka hea vaikne nurgake looduse poolest küll. Asjad on ikka omamoodi tasakaalus, igas kohas on omad head ja vead.

Külli andis oma vana auto - Holden Commodore - meile kasutada, nii et eile hakkasime vaikselt autosõitu harjutama. Alguses tegime tiire ümber kvartali ja kui tööinimesed koju jõudsid, siis sõitsime kaugemale ka. Täna sai juba päris üksi linnas ära käidud (meie elusase jääb suht äärelinna), paar segast olukorda oli, teistpidi liiklusega harjumine võtab aega, aga juba oli tunne, et sõidaks veel :).

Commandeering the Commodore

Yesterdays main news here was a red dust storm that hit Sydney and east coast making everything look like we´re living on Mars. Today we woke up to the remnants, it´s sunny but hazy and sneezing is a frequent activity. Living here makes me think that Estonia is a very nice and quiet place indeed, where nature is concerned - things in the world are in a somekind of equilibrium, every place has it´s pros and cons...

Külli gave us her old Holden Commodore, so we started with driving around the block and later to the city under locals guidance. Today we went to the city on our own already (we live pretty far from the centre), there were a couple of weird situations, it takes time to get used to driving "on the wrong side", but it became already quite comfortable, so that made the day :).
